Paradigm shift..

He used to come to the class at dot 8, sit at the desk and resume reading his yellowed novel. He used to not let those very late comers in.He used to mock at the college for promoting mbbs and the students who thought they were better than the rest. He used to say that mbbs had lost its charm. He said 'my earth-an anti-plastic initiative' started by me and a couple of other friends was a waste of time and that there were many major problems the world needs to start acting upon..my project,my hardwork, mine!!
Later i got back to him at the project's presentation -For those who think this is a time waste, think again ! What are you doing about those major problems you talk about anyway !
He didnt seem to be bothered at all.
He was my community medicine professor.

Today in my community med university examination i was picturing him talk about a topic he taught, while writing that answer. What a victory it was that day in that packed auditorium !!
Only i dint know everything happening with him..until i got out of the exam hall.

He passed away yesterday, his heart failed him.
He was military man, tough and tested. He used to let the students breathe, unlike most other army doctors teaching at the hospital. He was witty. He was charming. He had a great mastery over the english language. He may have wanted MBBS to be more than a mere degree, he must have wanted it to be the country's weapon to fight away the social and health problems.
When i could only look at the plastic around me, he probably saw the air around him.

One second..all that it takes for any image to seem
different, any perspective to change, any glass to shatter !

Why is that we start respecting people more after we pray that they rest in peace ? What changes ?
Why does everything else seem so trivial? Why does the stuff that seemed so wrong with the person suddenly stop mattering ?
Or do we notice the person's absence only when we know that he is not going to be around...forever !?

Rest in peace Sir.
